Presented by historian and East Northport native Ceylan Swenson

This presentation is an illustrated introduction to the local  area’s African American history and sheds new light on these  communities’ histories as as a whole.  Join us to learn the stories  of  “Aunt Sally” Carman (pictured at left), Booker T. Washington, and other  Black patriots, preachers, teachers, and families who made  their homes here from the 1650s to the 1950s.  We will explore  their  continuing legacies across our community, Long Island, and beyond.

The lecture will be approximately 40 minutes,  followed by 20 minutes of Q&A.
