The Youth program and Confirmation classes are led by St. Paul’s Pastor David Czeisel in conjunction with youth and leaders from around the North Shore Suffolk Cooperative Parish of seven United Methodist congregations. The collaboration expands opportunities and experiences and builds a wider network of friendships.
St. Paul's UMC has a small but spiritually vibrant group of youth who are actively engaged in activities in and beyond our local church. The youth help to lead worship, offer their musical gifts, and assist with live-streaming regularly, and are encouraged to lead our church in other ways, too. Sixth through twelfth graders organize and attend retreats and mission trips around the tri-state area, enjoy trips and Bible studies with our neighboring churches, and get involved in helping their community.
In order to help young people explore their faith in Christ, confirmation classes for seventh and eighth graders are run every two years as a group effort by the churches of our cooperative parish. The pastors of those churches each lead a portion of the classes twice a month from October - May. In addition to classes, confirmands are required to attend worship regularly, to do community service, to visit the houses of worship of other faiths, and to participate in the end of year confirmation hike.
